Well, this was a lovely surprise: Lavender Waves Farm is on the cover of the November 2026 issue of SO Rhode Island magazine. The cover story, “Dinner is Served,” is all about the art and vision of pop-up dining experiences in Rhode Island — and the cover photograph is a long table set for dinner right here in our lavender field, captioned “The Lavender Table, Wakefield.”
About that photograph
The picture was taken here at the farm during a one-night pop-up dining event hosted out in the field — one of our long wooden farm tables dressed for the evening, wine glasses catching the light, the lavender rows and the barns behind it. It's a scene we know well: weddings, celebrations, and gatherings of all kinds happen out in that field, and every so often it stops us in our tracks too.
The story
The article — published online as “One Night Only: Rhode Island's Experiential Dining Trend” — looks at the chefs and hosts creating one-night-only dining experiences around the state, and the farm is part of the story, with a section of its own. We'll let the magazine tell it: you can read the article on SO Rhode Island's website or browse the full November issue. The print magazine is free at stands around southern Rhode Island this month.
One note for our Farm Suite guests, so nobody arrives with the wrong picture in mind: the cover dinner was a pop-up event in the field. Our own Culinary Experience with Chef Lauren is something separate — a private, lavender-inspired dinner served inside the Farm Suite, for suite guests only.
Thank you
Our thanks to SO Rhode Island and Hey Rhody Media for putting a Wakefield lavender farm on the cover — and to everyone who has ever sat at one of these tables, walked the rows, or met the camels. If the cover has you picturing a gathering of your own out in the field, that's what our Events and Weddings pages are for.
